Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pptpd
When using pptpd with a Windows XP client, I've found users who have a password length of greater than 8 characters in /etc/ppp/chap-secrets are unable to authenticate successfully. When the password is truncated in the chap-secrets file and the user enters the new 8 character password, authentications succeeds. I have not as yet attempted to reproduce this problem with Linux or MacOS X clients. If this is a feature, not a bug, it should perhaps be documented in the sample chap-secrets file;-) ** Affects: pptpd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Description changed: Binary package hint: pptpd When using pptpd with a Windows XP client, I've found users who have a - password length of greater than 8 characters in /etc/pp/chap-secrets are - unable to authenticate successfully. + password length of greater than 8 characters in /etc/ppp/chap-secrets + are unable to authenticate successfully.
