A little progress: Gparted and parted can read my RAID's partition table because it's a GPT partition table. Unfortunately, nothing else can read this table. How can I force Karmic to install an MSDOS partition table? (tried configuring partitions on an MSDOS table outside of the installer and then "configur[ing] partitions manually", but my table is overwritten with GPT..)
