Can it be a hardware problem? Since some days karmic doesn't recognise
my GGW-H20L LG burner.

I always get the following in dmesg:

[ 11.130126] ata2: softreset failed (device not ready)
[ 21.140120] ata2: softreset failed (device not ready)
[ 31.750136] ata2: link is slow to respond, please be patient (ready=0)
[ 56.170135] ata2: softreset failed (device not ready)
[ 56.170138] ata2: limiting SATA link speed to 1.5 Gbps
[ 61.400170] ata2: softreset failed (device not ready)
[ 61.400171] ata2: reset failed, giving up

and karmic need much time to boot.

My mobo is a GA-MA790GP-DS4H from gigabyte with 8gb ram. additionally i
have a radeon 4870 at my peg slot.

I attached the loades modules. Maybe there is a problem.
