To clarify, for post #208, I am running:

Toshiba Satellite T135-S1309 w/rtl8192se
Ubuntu 9.10 desktop x86 with all of the latest updates as of this writing.
Linux toshiba 2.6.31-19-generic #56-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jan 28 01:26:53 UTC 2010
i686 GNU/Linux

However, having nothing to lose, I did a fresh install last night and decided
to try the latest rtl8192se_linux_2.6.0014.0115.2010.tar.gz and NOT ndiswrapper.

To gain immediate WiFi access, I used my USB Netgear WN111v2 (works out
of the box) which was configured as wlan0.

Subsequently I downloaded:
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/38201251/rtl8192se_linux_2.6.0014.0115.2010.tar.gz

After downloading, I unplugged my USB wifi and performed the following
steps:

> tar -xvzf rtl8192se_linux_2.6.0014.0115.2010.tar.gz
> sudo -s make
> sudo -s make install
> sudo shutdown -r now

After rebooting, I was able to successfully connect to an Apple Airport
Extreme set to 802.11b/g/n 2.4Ghz using WPA2 encryption. The
rtl8192se_pci was configured as wlan1:

>iwconfig

lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wlan1 802.11bgn ESSID:"SmileyNet" Nickname:"rtl8191SEVA2"
          Mode:Managed Frequency=2.417 GHz Access Point: 00:19:E3:33:A2:39
          Bit Rate=26 Mb/s
          Retry:on RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Power Management:off
Link Quality=72/100 Signal level=-64 dBm Noise level=-106 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

Speeds are not exactly what I'd call great, but it gets the job done. Various
speed tests (http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest) show I'm getting around
5-10Mbps... (it varies).

Additional notes:
1) I haven't played with many of the iwconfig settings, so I'm not sure how
much more I can get out of it, but it works.
2) I have put the laptop to sleep and upon wake, it reconnected to the AP
without a hitch.
3) To put this into perspestive, I have it dual booting with Windows 7 and I'm
connecting to the very same AP at ~130Mbps in Windows 7.

I will do ndiswrapper later and report my findings again.

Hope this helps.
