I had to change from gnome to xfce since gnome is unusable. (locks every ~10 mouse clicks) Now on xfce it still happens, but the rate has gone from 10 mouse clicks to maybe 1-2 times a day. Do you think it's possible to reset the mouse position using a shortcut when this happens?
