Hi Jeremy I really think that is no longer an issue, I think that the successive kernel updates surpassed the situation since it was never reproduced the problem. However, I can no longer reproduce the situation since i sold the computer (amilo pro v3205) two months ago to buy a new one.
I know you probably can not help me but in the new computer (Toshiba - U500-1EW) in which I have Ubuntu 10:04 (beta) has been impossible to make the wireless work, it seems there is not really functional driver for the chipset wifi realtek (Realtek 8172 Rev 10).
