Audio to work after installation with both analog and digital (HDMI)

-
4)
Audio does not work after installation. I have been able to get it working by
making a file under /etc/modprobe.d with the following:

$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/sound
options snd_hda_intel model=mbp3

The problem with this is when I go to use HDMI out to my TV, I have to
change analog to digital. When I am done, if I want audio back on the
laptop, I have to switch from digital to analog. It doesn't "Just
work". Please let me know if I need to upload any other information. I
am not very good with audio issues. ;(
