Blempis (comment 66), I think your first attempt to fix this (comment out blacklisted firewire modules) did not work because you either did not uncomment the ieee1394-based modules (ohci1394 - video1394) or because you did not reboot. If you did not uncomment the legacy modules, then they might have started first and acquired the hardware.
