This issue initially appeared on my wife's laptop, running Ubuntu 10.04 and I dismissed the issue as PICNIC (problem in chair/not in computer).
However, the issue eventually started affecting both MY laptop and my workstation. Upon further inspection, I have noted the following: (1) the issue affects three independent x86-based systems. (2) Two of the affected systems were installed from fresh Ubuntu 10.04 media (laptops). (3) One of the affected systems was originally installed using Ubuntu 8.x media and upgraded over time. (4) All affected systems were configured to use gwibber with twitter and facebook only. (5) Two systems were configured for the same twitter and facebook accounts. (6) My wife's laptop was configured with her individual twitter/facebook accounts. (7) Initial troubleshooting failed: i.e. clear account information and recreate account configs. this process had no affect on the issue whatsoever.
