Can confirm this very annoying bug on a clean Lucid install. Had the same 
issues in Karmic. I really feel sorry for anyone trying Kubuntu who doesn't 
know how to tweak things. This is NOT ready for wide distribution.
amichair tried your 'workaround' & on reboot my hidden network is listed. BUT 
it's listed as insecure & when I check the WEP key it's not the one I entered 
before reboot..
