@tneijsel, the internet is full of messages about failing X-Fi cards, yes, but they're all likely to be several years old, and all the problems have since been fixed. That's a strange argument. Anyway, judging from your lspci, the card is detected correctly - this bug was/is about X-Fi cards not being detected at all. Obviously, that problem is solved. I suspect that your problems have nothing to do with this bug. But hey, maybe ALSA is the problem - have you tried OSS?
