I appologize, I should have written I 'think' I found the solution.

I just tried on 4 different machines with mixed results.
Note I used my facebook username on all of these tests and not my e-mail 
address.

On the HP Pavillion m9351.nl (intel Core2 Quad)
Lucid 64-bit
Upgraded from Karmic
ext4 filesystem
Propriatary nVidia driver 195.36.24
Dual Monitor configuration (Two external Monitors)
-- Had to turn off Compiz in order to add facebook.

On the HP tx2 1050ed (Tablet PC)
Lucid 64-bit
Fresh Install
jfs files system
Propriatary ATI driver
Dual Monitor Configuration (Laptop Screen + External Monitor)
Compiz OFF
Fresh install
-- Worked out of the box, was able to add facebook the first try

On the Samsung n120 netbook
UNR Lucid
Fresh Install
jfs filesystem
Opensource IntelGMA driver
Compiz ON (yes it does exist on Netbooks under Settings, Appearance... Visual 
Effects... Extra...)
-- Was able to add facebook in one go without any problems

On the HP Pavillion s3020.sc
Lucid 64-bit
fresh install
jfs filesystem
Propriatary nVidia driver 195.36.24
Compiz on Normal (Settings... Appearance... Visual Effects... Normal)
-- Was able to add facebook the first time.
