@Gursimran: I am closing this/my bug as Fixed (after all it does not fail anymore), but will verify that the stock Ubuntu kernel works for me, too. I have reported the slowness in bug 405470 already. You should create a new bug for your case; take a look at /var/log/pm-suspend.log; maybe that helps.
