I've hit this with a newly added disk to existing (and up until now, rock solid) raid5 array
New disk Western Digital 500GB PATA internal hard disk Model# WD5000AAKB-00H8A0 Tried changing the jumper from CS, but no change Writes to raid array that exceed approx. 500 KiB/s triggers the "link is slow....hardreset" messages 2-3 times per minute (tested with fast download torrents, and playing with torrent client's throttle) Reads from raid array that exceed approx. 2000 KiB/s triggers the "link is slow....hardreset" messages every couple of minutes (tested with playing various bitrate media files from array) Do any of the above, and 1) System iowait rises sharply to between 80 & 100% for approx 30 seconds During that time, any processes using disk stall (and poss. timeout) 2) After that 30 second period message posted in syslog 3) lather, rinse, repeat -- ata1: device not ready (errno=-16), forcing hardreset https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/587859 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
