It still doesnt work here. The same highpitched rattling like in the last ubuntu version. Stereo works, but 5.1 rattles like hell. I am using Ubuntu 10.10 as 32bits version with a Creative Audigy 2 ZS. I wanted to give Ubuntu a try again, but till this does not work, I ll switch to Windows. Ubuntu is unusable for me for one year now, because of this.
