Looks like the problem was that my partition was full. I had to remove some of 
the packages and was able to complete. If someone can confirm this, I guess 
this bug can be closed. 
But now I have a new problem:
After booting, I get this message:
/usr/lib/gconf2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2 gives an error of 32512.
I had to remove gconf2 and gconf2-common. Its not a real problem as I use KDE 
and it seems to have no issues. Should I raise a ew bug for this?
