Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: shotwell

Shotwell keyboard selection behavior is inconsistent in Gnome.

The only method of selecting multiple photos using keyboard available in
Shotwell is Shift+Arrows, which only allows for selecting a number of
consecutive photos.

A standard feature in many Gnome applications, Nautilus and F-Spot are a
few, is moving the "focus" with Ctrl+Arrows (moving focus doesn't affect
current selection), and toggling selection with either Space or
Ctrl+Space.

This way you can easily mark multiple photos (for printing or export)
with keyboard by holding Ctrl, moving focus with arrow keys and toggling
the selection with Spacebar.

Now it's only achievable with mouse, which is way slower considering
need for scrolling.
