Basically, when you open up a terminal in KUbuntu 10.10 64-bit AMD build, the title bar says "bash". It is only after much searching on-line that one finds out the powers that be substituted "dash" without making it explicit and without providing any roadmap what-so-ever, but making a lot of claims about how it was bash like and the average user wouldn't notice.
Well, the "average user" is probably going to have a script which DECLARE's an integer variable because it is the only reliable way to count. So, until the powers that be at Cannonical fix the title bar on the terminal window and stop it from lying to one and all, THIS IS A BUG. They can either choose to implement DECLARE in dash OR they can fix the title bar to really expose what they did. If they choose to go the title bar route, they had best release a ton (not two pages, hundreds of pages) covering the capabilities of DASH and the differences between it and BASH. -- Roland Hughes, President Logikal Solutions (630)-205-1593 http://www.theminimumyouneedtoknow.com http://www.infiniteexposure.net No U.S. troops have ever lost their lives defending our ethanol reserves.
