According to https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16436 someone found out that this bug is related with powernow-k8. This is a statically linked part of the kernel, but can also be linked as a module. Would it be possible for the Ubuntu maintainers to build the default kernel with powernow-k8 as a module, so that the many people with an atheros card suffering with this problem could easily blacklist the module?
