I had noticed that too. I think I could probably stop if from switching to other workspaces unless the user specifically selected a window from another workspace in the spread. I'll have a look into it. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/689733 is related to the workspace switching issues.
