Ref. #7 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/775788/comments/7
Please note I don't have Ubuntu running on my 522 but I have the same "Codec" or sound card model = Conexant CX20584. When I set the sound card model to be dell-vostro I have working jack sensing. I have not tried the mic thought. Try this: Add "options snd-hda-intel model=dell-vostro" into alsa configuration file. "sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf" Then reboot. Check your pulse audio settings with "pavucontrol" command. There are two sound cards on this machine, the hdmi output and the regular sound card, obviously you need to enable the correct card if you don't have sound at first. --- If this does not work for you, you might try one of the other models related to "Conexant 5066" (source http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio-Models.txt).
