Hello Ubuntu Team, I believe I have the same bug. I actually had to stop using ubunutu due to this bug. The problem: After I shut down computer from within ubuntu , and I start it again , the bios screen doesnt even show , instead , the monitor goes to power save mode and turns black and computer becomes unresponsive. The only way to log in again is to shutdown and reset memory!
I have ubuntu and windows 7 installed on two different harddrives , this problem never occurs when i shutdown from ubuntu. Also , if i restart ubuntu and then login to windows sometimes the screen turns black again , monitor goes to power save mode just after i login to windows. I used ubuntu 10.10 and 10.04 for a long time and this never happened with them! I have an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.4Ghz by the way , this happens on both 64 and 32 bit ubuntu , i tried them both 6GB ram ati radeon hd 5700 video card your posted solution above does not solve problem also downloading the proprietry graphics drivers in ubuntu doesnt solve problem Untill this problem is solved , Ubuntu is not on my computer unfortunatley cause i like unity and i actually use Ubuntu 11.04 on my laptop at work and it works fine . -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/721385 Title: Computer will not boot after shutdown or restart -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
