The package linux-firmware in oneiric carries newer firmware for BCM43224[1]. I think it is a good idea to try whether this solves the issue. There is more than one way to do that, but I would probably simply update the whole linux-firmware package with https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/1.54/+build/2552738/+files/linux-firmware_1.54_all.deb .
