Did you build a custom vm-tools alongside the package? The error
root@ubuntu:/etc/vmware-tools# vmtoolsd
vmtoolsd: symbol lookup error:
/usr/lib/vmware-tools/lib/libvmtoolsd.so/libvmtoolsd.so: undefined symbol:
VMTools_EnableLogging
Doesn't seem to make sense, as the package installs its libraries under
/usr/lib/open-vm-tools/.
Could you do:
which vmtoolsd
dpkg -S `which vmtoolsd`
sha1sum `which vmtoolsd`
file `which vmtoolsd`
So we can try to see what's going on?
