Public bug reported: Since upgrading to Oneiric, I've been affected by the following regression (which didn't occur in Natty):
If I leave my box unattended and it goes into power-saving mode, when I resume I won't be able to see what's on the screen very well since the backlight will be disabled. If I explicitly put the machine into power- saving mode by closing the lid or choosing the suspend option from the menu, I can resume with no problem. I initially thought that this bug was the same as the one experienced by my friend (bug 779166). But there are a number of differences between the two. Also, the workaround given in post 49 of that bug (setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=00) seems to only make matters worse for me. And since the setpci man page is thoroughly incomprehensible, I don't know whether I can modify the setpci command to fix my issues. This is an HP Mini 110 (netbook), and I've only ever run the kernel versions provided by default in Ubuntu.
