If it is like RTL8187L you need to install drivers because Linux takes the 8187 generic driver and it does not work properly. Please, download the driver from here:
http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=1&PFid=1&Level=6&Conn=5&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true#RTL8187B Unpack the archiver and install it by: $ sudo make $ sudo make install And reboot.
