bf, I agree with you. In Adobe Acrobat reader it is possible, and it would be 
very useful to add support for this tool in Evince. I often need to get copies 
of limited areas of the documents that that I'm working with, but the only way 
to do it when you are using Evince is by obtaining a full screenshot, and 
editing it with an image editor (Pinta or another). I'm not sure, but it seems 
to be that Okular supports this feature.
In reply to Marcel, you are right. With Evince you can select an image, copy it 
and then paste in the workspace of another application, but it isn't the same 
that being able to select and copy any area that you need.

I hope that you can bring this tool to Evince.
