I simply ended up doing a full reinstall, but my computer still acts
oddly at times.

** Description changed:

I currently have Ubuntu 11.10 installed on my laptop. My problems
started when I was trying to move a movie to my flash drive. For some
reason, as the file was being written, it slowed down. It kept writing
but just enough to keep it at "4 minutes remaining." Basically after an
hour I said screw it and pulled it out. That froze my computer, so I did
a hard restart. This brought up Grub2. The reason I even mention this is
because my flash drive still had a folder under /media in Grub even
though I removed it. Trying to boot into any of the versions listed in
Grub (non-safe mode) just listed a black screen with a blinking
underscore. I'll edit and list what it says when it stops when trying to
boot into safe mode (sorry, I forgot... it was a couple of days ago).
Anyways, I then booted into a CD with Ubuntu 10.04 and tried to
reinstall my system. Ubiquity then crashed so I attached my log files.
Think I should try a full reinstall? If so, would anyone have an idea on
how to get the files I have on my harddrive still?

edit: Safe mode seems to be stopping where it is recognizing usb
devices. Let me know if you want any more info. Oh yeah, I was trying to
  run ubiquity 2.6.10.
+
+ edit2: Ended up completely re-installing Ubuntu. Still acts oddly on
+ startup though (takes a long time to get EFI to boot into the hard
+ drive), but at least it works. I guess the moral of the story is to
+ never remove a writing usb drive.

** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Incomplete
