I went and modified my /usr/share/applications/gnome-screenshot.desktop file to add quicklist support for this option, and it works on my own machine.
I'm still largely unfamiliar with how creating patches and the bug fixing process in general works, but after getting the source with apt- get source and working through the instructions for using edit-patch provided by https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PackagingGuide/Recipes/Debdiff, I think I now have a patch which can be submitted for consideration. (Let me know if I missed anything that I would still need to take care of.) ** Patch added: "02_add_selected_area_quicklist_option.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screenshot/+bug/952638/+attachment/2854638/+files/02_add_selected_area_quicklist_option.patch ** Tags added: patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/952638 Title: Add a quicklist entry for taking a screenshot of a selected area To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screenshot/+bug/952638/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
