Ubuntu 11.10 on Dell XPS 15z. Dual Boot with Windows 7 Home, bumblebee stable
installed.
I have the same problem as Aaron, when i try to shutdown the computer (either
from the main menu or from a terminal) i have to force it by pressing the power
button. This problem started after the latest update about 4 days ago. Now i'm
using the 3.0.0.19 kernel from the official packages. After this update i'm
experiencing also other strange problems, and i'm not sure about their
relationship with the one here discussed. For example i cannot run succesfully
the update-grub command: it does not terminate (it starts but does not
terminate, and it is blocked on "Found memtest86+ image:
/boot/memtest86+.bin"). Another problem is that sometimes i cannot kill a
command (via CTRL+C keyboard combination), it seems that the OS does not catch
the input. I experience this problem when i try to kill update-grub command
too. Final I'm not able to succesfully uninstall virtualbox package, it blocks
on "Stopping virtualbox kernel modules".
As i said i really don't know if all these problems are related each other, but
i hope there will be a solution soon.
