Public bug reported: display freeze to a striped brown colored screen after logging out. This bug happens randomly, and sometimes it can be work around by switch through ttys (ctrl+alt+f1...f2...f...) and switch back to tty7, but sometimes it can't.
I've encountered this bug in fedora 16(using gdm) with no property drivers(fglrx) installed, so it may be a X bug. I'm ready to provide more information.
