apport information

** Description changed:

I have Ubuntu Quantal developer release, but that bug also happened with
  12.04 LTS stable release.

  My hardware is:
  MB: Asus P5Q-Pro
Sound Card: Asus Xonar DG PCI

  Bug description:
Volume is always at 100 % at startup, ie on login screen and also after
successful logging.
Additionally, volume indicator at login screen always shows full volume
level. After logging Ubuntu volume indicator shows the volume level that was
set before exiting the previous session (despite that actually volume level is
100% at startup). When lowering or increasing the volume level by scrolling
(using a scroll whell) over the volume indicator then after a little change the
volume level is correct.

  Detailed scenario:
I log out with volume set at 20%.
  I rerun the computer.
  Log screen shows up.
Volume is at 100% regardless of what I set on previous login screen.
  Actual volume is also 100%.
  I log in to Ubuntu.
Volume slider indicates that volume is set at 20%.
  Actual volume level is 100%.
If I lower the volume level by 5% by scrolling over the volume indicator or
by clicking appropriate function key on my keyboard (Microsoft Comfot Curve
2000, which has buttons for volume management) then volume indicator indicates
that volume is set at 15% and actually the volume becomes at 15% level.

If bug is not reproducible or I'm alone with it then I would be VERY grateful
if default volume level was 0% and/or muted instead of 100%. Or mute the volume
at startup if device is known to be problematic. The bug I reported makes me
nervous, I'm always rushing to adjust the volume when I start watching some
music clip or something.
