Emre Onur Bal's workaround solution (under the link in Savas Yasar's comment above) works until a permanent fix is in place. This bug hit me during first use after a fresh installation of 12.04 Pangolin and it was driving me nuts trying to manually type a simple e-mail address. Thanks Emre, way to go.
