It seems to fail to load nouveau correctly..

I would say you have had the nvidia module loaded previously and things
broke as a result.
Is there a nouveau blacklist in /etc/modprobe.d ?

Xorg can't use nvidia card with nouveau but doesn't fallback to vesa
