As requested, here is the output from lsusb when the HEDCAM camera has been attached. Note that I was unable to remove my wireless mouse and keyboard (Device 003).

Out of interest, do you know what "Fitipower Integrated Technology Inc" relates to? Googling this returns details about a webcam, but I don't have a webcam, and I don't believe there is one integrated with my computer as standard. My system is a Dell Studio XPS 8100. Here is the support site for it, which includes links to the documentation. No integrated camera is mentioned. http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/19/TroubleShooting/ProductSelected/Product /studio-xps-8100 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1067079 Title: Unable to connect Hedcamz HEDCAM HD video cameras via USB To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1067079/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
