I have the very same issue on the 20121017.5 live image, downloaded from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/20121017.5 (MD5 sum was verified after download).
My system is a PowerMac G5 Quad. So it doesn't appear to be specific to the PowerBook G4's hardware. After booting the console is slowly filled with the following messages: --- unable to open '/dev/sdb' stdin: not a typewriter stdin: not a typewriter unable to open '/dev/sdb' stdin: not a typewriter stdin: not a typewriter .... --- There is no further progress... it just loops over and over again. It appears that there is disk activity going on before each message is printed to the console. I noticed that the image that I downloaded is not available anymore on cdimage.ubuntu.com. Now there's no powerpc image at all... Where can I find an archive of images for the ports, so I can for example try out the previous release (precise)? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1006427 Title: (PowerBookG4) Live image won't boot, stuck on "stdin: Not a typewriter" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1006427/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
