Happened again. Seems to happen less using cinnamon rather than unity. I lost the syslog on reboot along with 12 files (1GB) from a single directory I was not using at the time. Usually I only have firefox cache/data and whatever app is open at the time show up as file errors on boot (fsk?) but now it's other files too. ... and yes, My HDD is fine.
