Looks like I've got a solution, and I'll prepare a debdiff later. Included in it will probably be a Standards-Version bump, too, if that's okay with the MOTU's (I think they're the ones who are in charge of this stuff). I'll probably also try to make an SRU for this.
It seems that the problem with tape2wav missing was that it didn't have compatibility with libaudiofile 0.3.x, so I imported a patch from the Quantal version and it seems to do the job.
