In my case (Lubuntu 12.10 i386 running on Pentium III 500 MHz) two new tabs are 
opened. Please see the attached screenshots.
"before.png" shows lxterminal window just after it has started.
"after.png" shows lxterminal window after pressing Ctrl+Shift+T.
"^T" symbol appears too, I forgot to mention it in bug description.
Maybe, the bug effects are somewhat architecture-dependent (different pointer 
sizes etc.)? Or, maybe in my case something left from the previous version of 
lxterminal (in Lubuntu 12.04 lxterminal had the same bug)?

PS. It seems that launchpad does not allow more than one attachment, so
I'll send "after.png" in the next comment.
