3.12.0-031200rc6-generic [ 14.025391] acer_wmi: Brightness must be controlled by acpi video driver
The same thing. ACPI thinks it can do the brightness but cannot, and with acpi_backlight=vendor (to disable ACPI controlling brightness), only the intel_backlight entry in /sys/class/backligt shows up and *is* working. So the kernel problem persist, they need to blacklist this laptop from ACPI brightness, like they did with so many other Acers. Now there is a desktop problem as well. It will not acknowledge brightness provided by the intel_backlight entry, *or* the hotkeys are ignore since the brightness overlay doesn't show up with the hotkeys anymore (acpi_backlight=vendor or not). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1181927 Title: [Aspire V5-431]13.04: Brightness control visible but does nothing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1181927/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
