*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 988509 ***

It looks like I was able to resolve this bug on my system after the
following steps;
>From ubuntu forums, Thread 'Package operation failed' (Thanks to kc1di !)
I entered these commands at CLI;
/B
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
/b
I got the same 'Permission denied' error message described above by
wbagay.
I then attempted to re-install samba from CLI
/B
sudo apt-get install samba4
/b
It mostly seemed to work, but had additional error messages;
Unknown parameter encountered: "lpq command"
Ignoring unknown parameter "lpq command"
Unknown parameter encountered: "lprm command"
Ignoring unknown parameter "lprm command"
/var/lib/dpkg/info/samba4.postinst: 14: /var/lib/dpkg/info/samba4.postinst:

subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 126
No apport report written because MaxReports is reached already
Errors were encountered while processing:
samba4
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I tried Update Manager again.
It told me that 'All updates are complete.'
Unsure which steps resulted in the resolution of this bug, or if all
were necessary.
Best of luck to all!
