Same problem, but only when using keyboard from Logitech Unifying USB Receiver, I have to type the password as if it was a qwerty layout, while it's actually French. No problem when using keyboards from other brands, the bug seems related only to the Logitech unifying USB. And by the way, this bug seems solved in Ubuntu Unity, and gnome GDM, but persists on Ubuntu MATE.
