Public bug reported:

The only native linux emulator (Mupen) crashes. I've tried dozens of
other ones under Wine, but none of them work, either. They said it was
a wine bug in IRC, but in the end, that doesn't matter. What matters is
that I can't switch all of my friends and family over to Ubuntu, because
they won't be able to play Mario Kart 64.

What I've tried:
Mupen (native) Emulator opens, on loading a rom, crashes and disappears.

Under Wine:
1964: Doesn't work.
Project64: Doesn't work.
Mupen ++: Doesn't work.
Mupen for Windows : Doesn't wor.

You may not think Nintendo 64 is all that important to Linux adoption,
but over half of the machines that I administer require it.

If Ubuntu is ever going to be a first tier OS that more than a gross
minority of people use, this needs to be addressed.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
