Could it be that you have a motherboard based on SiS662 chipset? (Like D201GLY)
Xorg driver has a known problem with this chipset. It will show noise (vertical lines, snow, etc.) then working in high resolution modes (like 1024x768 and 1280x1024). See this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=463077 Workarounds / resolutions: - Compile 'premium' sis driver from here: http://www.winischhofer.eu/linuxsispart4.shtml . Driver won't compile cleanly on Xorg 1.3.0, some modifications are required (use of XORG_VERSION_CURRENT >= XORG_VERSION_NUMERIC macros) - Use binary driver, that was distributed by Intel (it was removed from their site, use Google's cache...) - Use 'vesa' driver. It won't support XV or DRI, it's slower, but it works. -- sis driver not support [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/119811 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
