I can confirm this. This still happens in Gutsy. If I have a usb mouse
connected and change the mouse speed settings it has effect on it but not the
Touchpad.
Since Alps Touchpad is very slow per default with Xorg I always add these lines
to Section "Synaptics Touchpad" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf:
Option "HorizScrollDelta" "0"
Option "MinSpeed" "0.60"
Option "MaxSpeed" "1.10"
Option "AccelFactor" "0.030"
I am using Sony Vaio VGN-TX2 Laptop.
