I have now tried building a few kernels: 2.6.22-14 as-is (i.e., no configuration changes; should be more or less exactly the same as the shipped Gutsy kernel?): a few hours later I was able to try it: no perceptible difference
2.6.22-14 fat-trimmed (i.e., only the necessary device drivers for the laptop, processor as P4/Celeron instead of 386, minimal extras such as filesystem drivers, etc): no perceptible difference I then decided to try vanilla 2.6.24-rc2 sources with the new b43 driver and firmware, with the same "fat-trimmed" .config from the previous try: was really hopeful here, but much to my chagrin, the results were exactly the same One thing I've been seeing some of lately is people finding that disabling the tickless timer seems to fix a lot of problems, so I tried it (nohz=off along with highres=off): same results Cheers -- Possible severe conflict between intel X server and Broadcom wifi https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/154647 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
