Hmm, it looks like the current known methods of disabling OpenGL do not
work for me.

Could you try this:

rm -Rf .config/libreoffice
lowriter --norestore

Ignore the crash. Then add the following line to the newly generated
.config/libreoffice/4/user/registrymodifications.xcu:

<item oor:path="/org.openoffice.Office.Canvas"><prop
oor:name="ForceSafeServiceImpl"
oor:op="fuse"><value>true</value></prop></item>

Then try running LibreOffice again.
