Public bug reported:

Xubuntu 18.04 installed on a new Lenovo IdeaPad 330S; system is up to date (I
run Software Updater pretty much daily).
lsb_release -rd tells me:
Description: Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS
Release: 18.04

When the screen gets locked (either when I lock it or when the system
locks it after a period of inactivity), there is no way for me to log
back in. No matter what I do, no "enter password" box pops up. The
screen just stays black and the only thing I can do is to shut the
computer down by holding down the power button.

This happens regardless of whether an external monitor is connected.

My apologies if I didn't report this correctly or left out anything
important; I am just an end user and not an expert. Please let me know
if I need to provide any further information.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
