If you know how to log in remotely via SSH then please:

0. Install package 'openssh-server'.

1. Reboot.

2. Log in via ssh from another machine.

3. Write down the PID of the gnome-shell process (that's the login
screen GUI).

4. Leave the machine so it times out and the screen blanks. Make sure
you can't wake it.

5. Run from ssh:

   apport-cli --hanging -P `pidof gnome-shell`

   That should create a new bug report. Tell us the bug ID.

6. If step 5 failed then please check if there is still a gnome-shell
process at all. If so then go to step 7. If not, then stop here.

7. Run from ssh:

   sudo killall -ABRT gnome-shell
