With the newupdate kernel, you could delete or comment out the
"dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d" on rpi4/3/2, then the system will use the fb
driver of bcm2708_fb, this will not load the vc4 drm driver.
And to install the newupdate kernel,
you should install linux-modules-xxx.deb first
then install linux-images-xxx.deb.
